ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Hi, I’m J. Pinky, founder of PDX Presents. Producing images that stand the test of time can be a nerve-wracking experience for artists at every level of the entertainment spectrum, from small club acts to stadium headliners. Accordingly, I consider it my job, first and foremost, to ensure that the artist feels comfortable with the entire process, from planning to publishing.
Photojournalism is my signature style, including candid portraits, live concert photography, and scenes that evoke natural emotion and human interaction, both indoors and in outdoor environments. Dark light photos are a specialty and are considered the most challenging of all forms of professional photography. State-of-the-art gear is used in combination with over 2 decades of experience to capture moments no smartphone can replicate, and few photographers can duplicate.
ABOUT THE PROCESS
We begin with a simple conversation – a casual discussion about the scope and timeline of your project, no strings attached. From one-off shows to album projects and full-year anthologies, there is a wide range of options to choose from. These can include documentation of studio recording sessions, multiple days on tour, an afternoon around town at your favorite local hang-outs, or one-off performances that capture the pure essence of your live show and fan interactions, complete with behind-the-scenes moments from load-in to after-parties.
Once a set of images are captured (typically hundreds to thousands of unique shots), I process each photo by hand, selecting the best-of-the-best for print-quality reproductions.
Photos can be developed in black and white, natural color, or artistic extremes for maximum effect. RAW images and Lightroom catalogs can also be provided to 3rd parties, upon request, to be incorporated with complimentary projects including music videos, documentaries, album artwork, and for archival purposes.
Once published, the artist is free to use every image for both promotional and commercial purposes forever, according to the agreements signed at the time of booking.
For Portland-based artists, additional media support can also be provided by PDX Presents at no additional cost. With a strong social media following and tens of thousands of visitors monthly across multiple platforms, my personal mission is to celebrate the arts in our local community, and to tell a story about this moment in time for historians and generations of music fans to come.
Photographs can be purchased on a work-for-hire or licensing basis, and satisfaction is absolutely guaranteed. Sessions can be booked on an hourly, day-rate, or per-project basis, with a low estimate of a single show or session coming in around $250 and full-day day rates in the $2,000 range, including processing time. Project rates can be reduced according to the full scope and timeline, and concessions can be made for developing acts with limited financial resources, subject to availability.
The following is a list of equipment I currently have on-hand, which covers a vast majority of the scenes and situations listed above. Additional lighting and photography gear can also be rented on an as-needed basis at a nominal cost.
