Banana Pitch, The Hottest Showcase In Town

Banana Pitch is a new Portland showcase series unlike any other. Hosted by local journalist, storyteller, teacher, and artist advocate, Michelle Kicherer, the line-up each 3rd Monday of the month is eclectic by design. Musicians, comedians, poets, and writers gather to share a small taste of Portland’s thriving arts scene in an intimate yet lively environment. Kicherer could easily pass for a stand-up comic in her own right, combining quirkiness and charm in the role of MC.

Monday night’s show (11/20/23) featured some of Portland’s finest talent, including Anna Diem, James Jones, Sooth, Dan Cable, Ally J. Ward, Jungle Mountain, Krissy Eliot, Roderick Allen, Just Clark, Erin Potter, and Isabeau Waia’u Walker. If that sounds like a stacked line-up, it is, but you’d be amazed how time flies with each performer given just enough time to read a short story or to sing a song or two. Performances are augmented with brief interviews, proving a rare opportunity to get to know the people behind these amazing creations.
The next show is scheduled for Jan. 15th, and every 3rd Monday thereafter, 7pm, at Alberta St. Pub. It truly is the finest cross-genre showcase in town, and cannot be recommended more highly. See you there.
